Reflection: I do believe that everyone should live by this quote by Dale Murphy. If one were to say it constantly it would remind you to always do the right thing when it comes to sports or life in general. Cheating is not a healthy thing to do, for anyone, and no one should do it. Cheating will make you an untrusted, disrespected individual who does not do the right thing. Cheating is something that will ruin your image and your character for doing something so wrong. If you were to cheat on a test, yes you might get a good grade but you are cheating yourself and lying about your knowledge. 

Oncologist

Oncologist

Duties and Responsibilities: Oncology specialists are physicians trained in a variety of cancer diagnostic and treatment procedures, such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Oncology specialists collect medical histories and perform physical evaluations in addition to basic administrative duties, such as maintaining records, coordinating with other medical personnel, and managing the work staff. They also perform a wide variety of diagnostic procedures to ascertain the condition if tissues and to detect cancer. This includes scanning techniques, such as x-rays and magnetic resonance imaging, as well as surgical operations and biopsies.

Salary: The median salary for the oncologist is $217,000 a year

Education: As physicians, oncology specialists must complete up to eight years of undergraduate and medical school education. They then train in a medical residency that can last 3-5 years depending on the specialty. Those pursing sub-specialty training may also be required to complete an additional residency or fellowship of up to three years. Following training, all physicians must pass a licensing exam before they are able to practice. Completion of training often qualifies oncology specialists for voluntary certification, which typically involves a set of written and oral exams and a performance review.

Reflection: Do you think you would like to become one? Why or why not?
-I do think I would like to be an oncologist because it is a challenging career, and it seems very interesting. Having to study and try to figure out various cancers that others had a hard time doing is a great challenge. Not only is it appealing but it also has a good pay.

Reflection: Character really does matter most because it is who you are, how you act towards others, how you treat others and how treat yourself. A good character comes from someone who is loyal, trustworthy, honest, respectful, kind, and someone who keeps their word. Character is what makes you who you are, not the riches or the fame or a title. 

Heliotherapy

Heliotherapy (Light Therapy or Phototherapy)

Duties and responsibilities: Light therapy , or classically referred to as heliotherapy, consists of exposure to daylight or to specific wavelengths of light using polychromatic polarized light, lasers, light-emitting diodes, florescent lamps, dichroic lamps or very bright full spectrum light. The light is administered for a prescribed amount of time and , and in some cases, at a specific time of day.

Reflection: Do You think you would like to become one? Why or why not?
- I do not think I would like to be a heliotherapist because there is not much to say about this job.

Mitch McKee

Mitch McKee

-Mitch was a 15 year old boy who wanted to do something extraordinary to make his dad proud. He won the championship wrestling match. His father had been diagnosed with an incurable cancer. Mitch wanted his father to forget about his cancer even if it was for only a minute, so to make him happy and proud Mitch wanted to win the championship wrestling match. Every morning at 6 am, Mitch would go to the gym to train and practice, even when there was no practice, Mitch would practice. He was only a freshman at the time and although the chances were probably not in his favor he went for it anyway. The day he won his father was very proud of him but his father said that he didn't need to do all that to make him proud of his son, all he wanted was the love that was behind the effort. What Mitch did for his father was a great act of love.

Reflection: What this quote is trying to say is that it does not matter if you are strong or extremely beautiful or have am abundance of money; what matters is your heart and how you treat others. If you have money but do not share some with charity or to help others out of the goodness of your heart, it says a lot about your character. If your are poor with little to have but you still offer and help others, it shows that you are a great person who has values.

Health Educator

Health Educator

Duties and Responsibilities: A health educator must collaborate with health specialists and civic groups to determine community health needs and the availability of services, and to develop goals for meeting needs. They must design and conduct evaluations and diagnostic studies, develop and present health education and promotion programs such as training workshops, conferences, and school or community presentations. A health educator has to develop operational plans. They must also prepare and distribute health education materials, including reports, bulletins, and visual aids such as films, videotapes. photographs, and posters.

Salary: The median annual wage for health educators is $48,790

Education: Entry-level health educators require a bachelor's degree in health education or health promotion. These programs teach students theories and methods of health education and help students gain knowledge and skills they need to develop health education materials and programs. Most programs include an internship. They must also have important qualities like analytical skills, instructional skills, interpersonal skills, problem-solving skills, and writing skills.
