Student Success Statement
A Choice: Poverty or Prosperity
"I hated poverty.
Poverty is more of a choice than anything else,
and I can change that (poverty).
It depends upon how hard I want to work,
and I decided that I would change that."
Dr. Ben Carson

Reflection: I very much agree with Dr. Carson because it is always your choice whether you do something about it or not. Say that you want to be known with a good name when you are older, You can not achieve that is you sit around doing nothing about it. To achieve it, you need to work hard and really want it.

S.S.S. Thomas S. Monson

Student Success Statement
When is right wrong and wrong right?
Never, because
"You can't be right by doing wrong; you can't be wrong by doing right."
Thomas S. Monson

Reflection: I some what agree with Thomas Monson because it is correct that you can't be wrong when you are doing something wrong, but if there were to be a case where you had to make the hard decision that was wrong yet somehow turned out to be for the greater good, there might be something right by doing wrong.

S.S.S. Dr Norman Vincent Peale

Student Success Statement

"Enthusiasm makes a difference."
Dr. Norman Vincent Peale

Reflection: I agree with him because enthusiasm really does make a difference on how you see or react to things. For example if you were to be on some kind of sports team and have a negative attitude always thinking that you will lose and that you are not good enough it may just come true. But if you were to have positive thinking and believe in yourself and in your team and try your hardest you may just succeed.

S.S.S. Dean Smith

Student Success Statement
"I wasn't trying to leave a legacy.
I was trying to do what was right/"
Dena Smith

Reflection: I personally love this statement because it shows who he really it. It also gives people an idea of how not everything you do is will be written down in history or remember for years to come but if you think its the right thing to do you should do it anyway.

Lawyer

Duties and Responsibilities: A lawyer must advise clients concerning business transactions, claim liability, advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits, or legal rights and obligations. They must be able to interpret laws, rulings and regulations for individuals and businesses. Analyze the probable outcomes of cases using knowledge of legal precedents. A lawyer must also be able to present and summarize cases to judges and juries, but most of all a lawyer must also evaluate findings, develop strategies, gather evidence to formulate defense or to initiate legal actions.

Education: Usually takes 7 years of full-time study after high school-- 4 years of undergraduate study, followed by 3 years of law school.

Reflection: Do you think you would like to become one? Why or why not?
To be a lawyer you would have to have respect for the law and although I do not agree with it completely, yes I would like to become a lawyer. The reason for this is that most people do not know their birth-given rights and others take advantage of that, or someone thinks that the law does not apply to then and that is not fair.

S.S.S. Dr. Randy Pausch

Student Success Statement
"It's not about how to achieve your dream.
It's about how to lead your life.
If you lead your life the right way, the karma (destiny, fortune, good luck) will take care of itself.
The dreams will come true."

Dr. Randy Pausch

Reflection: I agree with this quote because it is an example of how if you were to live by the rules and do good, your future will come with a positive effect. For example if you were to break the rules and be a trouble maker in school always getting in trouble then that may cost you your chances of getting into a good college.

S.S.S. Mario Cuomo

Student Success Statement

"Every time I do something that doesn't feel right, it has ended up not being right."
Mario Cuomo

Reflection: I very much agree with Mr. Mario Cuomo because it has happened many times. For example, once I had to take out the trash but I didn't do it before my mother got home and I knew I would get in trouble but I didn't take out the trash anyway.
